R.I.P. Robin Williams

It is with deep sadness I write this post after hearing the news from several sources that comedic genius Robin Williams has passed away from an apparent suicide.

Congratulations are in order for actress Keke Palmer who scored the role of Cinderella on Broadway. What's historical about this already impressive career move? Keke is the first African-American to play the role on Broadway (not to be confused with R&B star Brandy who played the role in the made-for-TV film).

Two Queens Collide on Flawless Remix

While the media outlets were busy coming up with rumors about Beyonce's marriage, she was busy working on a remix to (my favorite song) Flawless with fellow Queen Nicki Minaj. While there were a few guesses, just like with her album, no one had any idea when this was coming. Although suspicions rose after Nicki pushed back the release date for new single Anaconda.

Listen to the track here.

New Blog Launch

I decided to build a new blog to capture my experiences in New York as a recent graduate. While I've thoroughly enjoyed using blogger (and every now and then I will continue to do so), I want my blog to represent something different than what blogger has allowed. So here's to success with this next step.

Until wix decides to add a rss feed (they better fix this soon) I'm adding this blog to bloglovin to keep everyone updated. I will continue to update this blog when I see fit.

Never Quit

Just wanted to share this status Kobe Bryant posted yesterday. I think it's incredibly inspiring. We will all come across people who will doubt us and tell us we wont make it. But it's important not to give up. Can you imagine if Kobe had let this stop him from being one of the best players of all time.

Also thought this was fitting too.

Moral of the story...Never quit! Proving people wrong is the greatest feeling.

P.S. So happy J.K. Rowling was able to get Harry Potter published.

It's become really hard to update my blog on a regular basis (what else is new) but instead of quitting I'm going to revamp on what I want my blog to be about. So I hope the next time I post it will look and be completely different. Until then...

Officially a College Graduate

I can't believe it myself but I am so excited to let the world know I am officially a college graduate.

It's a great feeling to finally be Penn Stated with my B.A. in Broadcast Journalism. I am currently interning for Dailymotion as a content intern. I'm thoroughly enjoying it and I believe it's a great stepping stone to the career I've decided to pursue in social media. Of course we'll see how everything goes. Luckily, NYU is only a few blocks away so I've decided to start working towards my Masters in Public Relations a semester early.

Congratulations to all my fellow graduates in the Class of 2014. This is only the beginning. I look forward to witnessing what all you guys and gals are going to do in the future.

Live-Tweeting the Oscars

Tonight I'm live tweeting the Oscars with @GoKicker, a company that I'm a campus rep for. Kicker is a new way to deliver/present news. Our goal is to make news digestible, enlightening, engaging, and empowering.

Being the Arts advocate that I am, I think my tweets tonight will be both informative and hilarious and I hope you'll enjoy following along.

The Hunt App

I just found the best app for any young fashionista!

It's called The Hunt and it allows you to post a pic of any outfit you find and other fashionistas and shoppers will help you find it. It's like one big social network for all us shopaholics and I love it. I spend so much time on tumblr and come across so many cool clothes and rarely is it ever listed to buy the clothes I like. Now with this app I can get help looking for all the stylish pieces I want. Now I just need an app that will teleport Beyonce and Trey Songz to my room and I'll be all good. Happy Shopping!

Adobe Campus Rep

I'm really excited to announce I've been giving the opportunity to represent Adobe Creative Cloud on campus at Penn State. This is a very exciting position and to anyone who may be interested in becoming a student representative for Adobe as well, I want to extend this opportunity to you.

I'm currently recruiting on behalf of Adobe for students at any school who are Adobe advocates and can share their excitement about Creative Cloud on their campus. In return you'll receive Adobe swag, cash rewards, and valuable work experience at the same time. Sounds great, right?

Before you rush to apply, let me tell you what will be expected of you. General responsibilities include:
• Planning and executing at least 1 product training workshop
• Promoting your workshop(s) through word-of-mouth and guerilla marketing activities
• Amplifying program activity and messaging through social media
• Forming partnerships with relevant student organizations on campus

In addition to these requirements, you should also be creative, entrepreneurial, and well-connected, with strong online and offline social networks. A deep knowledge of and passion for Adobe applications is essential, as well as an ability to speak to your personal creative process.

Still interested? Of course you are! So apply here and be sure to tell them I sent you under
"How did you find out about the Student Rep program?"

Best of luck!

Guess Who's Going To NYU

It's only been a week back on campus and already so much has happened. I was accepted to NYU on Wednesday for graduate school and I've been celebrating ever since. I've wanted to go to NYU since I was a child and my mom attended. Speaking of my mom, she may be the only person more excited than I am. She wanted to me to attend her alma mater for undergraduate study but I knew Penn State was the right choice. Now I get the best of both worlds.

Now that the week is over and I'm done celebrating,I think it may be time to go back to concentrating on this last semester. It would be a damn shame if with everything I have going for me after graduation, I lose focus and don't graduate. We're not having that.

P.S. Ariana Grande also followed me on Twitter this week (check earlier posts to see how much I love her). I freaked out for about 6 hours before I could finally pull myself together.

My Last Semester

After spending a month during my winter break working for Woman's Day magazine, I am finally back at school. I started my final semester today and I'm very excited because regardless of how things go I'm done in about 4 months. I plan on enjoying every day that I have left as a college student.

As for my internship at Woman's Day, it definitely opened my eyes to a lot of things in the industry. I'm actually starting to develop an interest in Public Relations and I think if I decide to go the magazine route, PR is the field in which I would fit in. I'm happy I survived. I went straight from a Fall internship at AccuWeather to a Winter internship with Woman's Day with no days off. Ironically, I'll probably get more rest now that the semester is starting.

I originally planned on not doing much this semester but I was recently offered a Contributing Writer position with USA Today College and that's not something a sane person turns down. I'm also excited to announce I'm interning with Mugglenet this semester. This is something I'm doing just out of fun because I love Harry Potter and this is as close to writing for The Daily Prophet as I can get.
